E3: Xbox 360 Elite out next month in UK

Gamers keen to get their hands on Microsoft's Xbox 360 Elite games console will be pleased to learn the US firm has announced it will be launched in the UK August 24.

The system, which features a 120Gb hard drive and an HDMI digital output, has yet to receive official price details but is currently on sale for $479 (£244) in North America.

The Elite announcement was the main news during Microsoft's E3 presentation, but the firm also revealed other interesting information.

Microsoft announced it will launch a video-on-demand service in time for Christmas.

It also confirmed downloadable content for Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV will be exclusive to the Xbox 360 and that Resident Evil 4 will be out next year on the format.
