A follow-up to Ubisoft’s first Vegas tactical shooter, which was released December 2006, this sequel brings more Unreal Engine 3-powered adventures to the small screen.

There are plenty of new features in this follow-up, which continues from the original storyline where you play the role of Bishop, a top Rainbow commander, attempting to rescue Las Vegas from an escalating terrorist siege, including the neat new ability to run.

This sprint feature is the most prevalent new addition, which works by pressing the left shoulder button on the gamepad. Unlike the original, running for cover or avoiding a grenade is now a reality. And as the game's difficulty level is now higher, this new function proves very useful during times of need.

Vegas 2 has more grounded tactical play than before, and a new character system, where you keep the same identity throughout, offers new Advanced Combat Enhancement and Specialisation points and experience points to be carried through all modes of play. This means points earned in the single-player campaign can be carried over to the multi-player online modes.

The AI of your two team-mates leaves a lot to be desired, as they often walk into open space and are gunned down through their own negligence. There are occasions when they do have their uses, but with so much emphasis on tactical play, seeing your crew walk in front of a rather large gun makes you wonder where there tactics are.

While much of the single-player campaign is nicely done, with 11 new, smaller maps that enhance the face-offs and 11 new weapons to make use of, it’s the multiplayer and co-op modes where this game, like the original, really excels.
