According to a Brash spokesman, the game "combines the same colourful world and characters of the forthcoming film with a unique storyline that puts fans in the heart of the action with 11 levels of monkey fun and mayhem".
In development for the Xbox 360, PS2, Wii and DS, the title will see players tumbling, jumping, climbing and swinging their way through environments taken from the film as they switch between fighting and puzzle solving. As well as featuring characters from the movie, the game will also include 13 new enemies and a two-player co-op mode.
The DS title will be different from other versions, playing as a 3D side-scrolling action game.
The adventure-comedy movie follows the exploits of a mischievous young chimp called Ham (Andy Samburg), grandson of the first primate to be sent into space. Ham decides to be like his grandfather as he leads an exploratory mission onto another planet, but when they crash-land on a new world they come face to face with King Zartog and his henchmen. Ham then enters a dangerous mission to save his fellow chimps and secure the emancipation of the planet.
Both movie and game are scheduled for an early August release.
