This week on Xbox Live… Sonic & Knuckles!

Although the previously confirmed Wallace & Gromit: Episode 2 has been delayed from its proposed release this week, Sega still offers up the goods with classic platformer Sonic & Knuckles. There's also plenty of new track packs for both Rock Band and Guitar Hero, as well as some new Games on Demand.

Games

Sonic & Knuckles: This 1994 Genesis platformer was the second part of Sonic 3, continuing straight after the destruction of the Launch Base at the end of the game. It is essentially an expansion pack with some small adjustments; as well as new levels such as Flying Battery, Lava Reef and Hidden Palace. Knuckles is now a playable character (dropping Tails entirely) and there are changes to some of the bonus stages.

Of course, the biggest draw around the original release was the Lock-On technology, which allowed Sonic 3 to be snapped on top so you could play both sets of levels from start to finish with any character, and gain access to an exclusive level at the end. The feature still exists in this downloadable port, as well as Sonic 2 & Knuckles and the Blue Sphere option from the original. You need to have downloaded the first three games to gain access to their respective extras of course, which you should most certainly should do if you haven't already.

Alone it isn't the greatest 2D Sonic adventure, but with Sonic 3 it certainly makes for a hefty package. Download it for a 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40).

Games On Demand

This week sees console strategy title Sid Meier's Civilisation Revolution and atmospheric shooter BioShock added to the Games On Demand service for £19.99 each.

Track Packs

Rock Band: Songs played at Seattle's PAX convention have been released, as well as some tracks from Freezepop. Download them for 80 Microsoft Points (68p) a track, or 240 points (£2.05) for a set.

PAX Collection: ' Opening Band?' by Paul and Storm, ' Origin of Species' by MC Frontalot, ' Re: Your Brains' by Jonathan Couton.

Freezepop Pack 01: ' Get Ready 2 Rokk', 'Less Talk More Rokk', 'Science Genius Girl'.

Guitar Hero 5: Download live tracks of several Rolling Stones tracks. Get them at 160 Microsoft Points (£1.35) each or 720 Microsoft Points (£6.15) for the set.

Rolling Stones Live Track Pack: '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction (Live)', 'I'm Free (Live)', 'You Gotta Move (Live),' 'Under My Thumb (Live)'

Deal of the Week

This week sees a half-price offer for the addictive Puzzle Quest: Challenge Of The Warlords, now 400 Microsoft Points (£3.40) until Monday.
