This week on VC… 'Final Fantasy IV'!

A very handsome week for Nintendo consoles; Virtual Console returns with a confusingly titled Square Enix sequel, WiiWare has a bee-themed racer, while the DS receives one of the best tower-defence titles in recent years.
Virtual Console
Final Fantasy II: Thought the confusing numbering system for Final Fantasy was long dead? Think again. Although still named as II on Virtual Console, this is was actually the US version of Final Fantasy IV, the SNES adventure featuring dark knight Cecil. It's filled with all kinds of Mode 7 trickery and some great environments to explore, and is easily one of the best games in the entire series. Download it for 900 Nintendo Points (£6.30).
WiiWare
Mister Bumblebee Racing Champion: This 3D racer has you fly through overgrown gardens, dark caves and dense forestry with adjustable game speeds for players of different ages. It also comes with four-player local split-screen multiplayer for 500 Nintendo Points (£3.50).
Also available is silhouette puzzle title NEVES Plus: Pantheon of Tangrams for 500 Nintendo Points (£3.50).
DSiWare
Fieldrunners: One of the best tower defence games on the iPhone makes its way to the DS. The touch interface makes it a straightforward transition, while the additional screen adds a Command HUD showing additional information on towers and enemies. Download it for 500 Nintendo Points (£3.50).
Also available is egg-rolling puzzler A Puffins: Let's Roll for 500 Nintendo Points (£3.50), circuit-connecting puzzler Advanced Circuits for 200 Nintendo Points (£1.40) and Tales In A Box: Hidden Shapes In Perspective, a clever title that uses the camera to investigate 3D rooms for 500 Nintendo Points (£3.50).
