Mobile Games Round-up: 'Worms Crazy Golf'

A varied lot for mobile devices this week, with the return of Worms, a frantic arcade shooter and an easygoing 3D platformer.

What is it?: This Worms spinoff sees players attempt to putt the ball in as few moves as possible, while avoiding signature madcap hazards such as old women and moles. It features extensive single-player content, with three 18-hole courses, as well as local hot-seat multiplayer.

Super Crossfire

Platforms: iPhone, iPad
Cost: 69p / $1, £1.99 / $2.99
What is it?: From the developer of the Radiangames series on Xbox Live, this is an arcade shooter featuring Geometry Wars-style neon visuals. It's a simple single-screen shooter that has you flip from edge to edge to defeat enemies, who will deploy barriers and fire projectiles to keep you at bay. It's super slick and polished, and features a ranking system to keep you engaged between games.

Helium Boy

Platforms: iPhone, Android
Cost: £1.49 / $1.99
What is it?: This is a full 3D platformer inspired by Balloon Fighter. Using on-screen controls, players must explore cute and colourful levels using helium balloons. As well as a normal mode that scrolls the stage automatically, there's a beginner option that allows you to explore environments in your own time.
