
While the group is still trading, the closure of hundreds of outlets up and down the country - as well as its online storefronts - could happen as soon as this weekend.
However, a plan is reported to be in place to save the retailer, which would involve closing off GameStation branches and forming a new company in its wake.
The loss of GAME would be huge. Not only will thousands of jobs be lost, but the games industry itself will suffer, with very few other high street retailers remaining to pick up the slack, especially when it comes to niche titles and much-used trade-in services.
