Not only that, but the 12, 16 and 18 age ratings will now be enforceable by UK law, where selling a game to someone underage can result in a £5,000 fine and a jail sentence of up to six months.
However, a recent poll said one in three parents buy an unsuitable video game for their children, so will these changes have any effect on costumers?
We want to know whether age ratings have influenced your game purchases, whether buying for yourself, a family member or a friend.
Have you used age ratings in the past, and will the new PEGI system make you take more notice? Or do they not factor into deciding what games to buy? We'd also be interested to hear how do you view ratings on games compared to those in other media, such as movies.
