gamescom 2012 kicks off today (August 14) with a morning press conference from Japanese developer and publisher Capcom.

What can we expect? We'd argue that more Resident Evil 6 footage is on the cards, as well as perhaps a few new reveals for the sequel due out in October. We also predict showings for DmC and Lost Planet 3, and if we're lucky, maybe something new in the Street Fighter or Monster Hunter franchises.

Join us for the live blog in 30 minutes, or at 10am to 11am BST / 4am to 5am EST / 2am to 3am PST.

11:26And that wraps up the presentation from Capcom! Join us later today at 3pm BST for EA's press conference.

11:26It's a clever mechanic that tops off a very interesting reveal. Remember Me is coming May 2013 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

11:25Back in the office, Forlan is riddled with guilt and shoots himself. His girlfriend then comes in wanting to patch things up, but instead witnesses his suicide. Objective complete.

11:25Knocking over the bottle doesn't work - Forlan just stumbles and fails to shoot his girlfiend. You can replay, take the safety off the gun first then shoot him, successfully editing the memory.

11:25She overhears how he just broke up with his girlfriend. Using this information, she's able to access these memories - a messy domestic in his apartment - and edit them. In the apartment, the player can select various elements - such a knocking over a bottle to opening a suitcase.

11:20The player can use various sight modes to make her way through the rainy streets and past sentries. She soon climbs up buildings and hangs outside of a window, with Forlan inside the room.

11:18While all people in the world now have powers, Nilin has a unique one, Memory Remix, which can make people insane and kill themselves. A new demo starts, showing Nilin hunting down a general named Frank Forlan.

11:16Back on the rooftop and the gunship in tow, Nilin manages to evade detection for a moment, climbs up the side and lands on the gunship itself, and steals the pilot's memories. The demo ends. It looks very impressive.

11:14More combat is soon shown, with a wheel of commands and tools at her disposal. She's also able to slow time to quickly dispatch her enemies.

11:13The chase continues, with music that swaps between serene and techno. Now inside the building and away from the chopper, she has to fight goons in a corridor. It's a hand-to-hand brawler by the looks of things, and there's a particularly effective move called Memory Overload, which seems to kill the enemy by spraying their memories everywhere.

11:12Nilin escapes; it's a third-person action adventure with Uncharted-style climbing sequences. The heads-up display is empty aside from elements in the environment and Nilin's status, which is represented as an orb behind her head.

11:09Live gameplay now. After panning over Neo-Paris, Nilin is trying to break into a building, chatting over another member of her group called Edge. Soon a helicopter gunship appears and fires on the balcony.

11:05You play as a member of a group trying to fight against this organisation, called Nilin. She's an elite memory hunter who has lost her identity and is trying to get it back.

11:05Remember Me is set in Neo-Paris, year 2084. All memories and senses can be automatically recorded and traded on a network. The company that runs all this is called Memoreyes. Imagine the access this company would have to all these memories; who watches the watchman?

11:03The point is that the audience can now relive those memories with our own visions in our head. Now, imagine a world where memories can be shared with anyone in the world. What if we could delete our most painful memories?

11:02The tale is going on for a little bit; they saw a rubbish Ben Affleck film, had a nice meal but drank too much wine, went for a walk and accidentally stumbled into a techno party.

11:00One of the developers come on stage comes on stage talking about memories and their value. His personal favourite is his first date with his girlfriend in Paris.

10:59It's set in a futuristic Paris, with a female lead whose memory is being erased (hence the title). It has a wonderful art style, hovering cars and plenty of action. Our lead asks, 'I'm the hunter, so why am I being hunted?'

10:57It's being worked on by former Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six and Heavy Rain developers.

10:57It's from a French studio named Dontnod Studio. It's called Remember Me.

10:56Capcom now announces a new IP.

10:55Now the shack is being assaulted by armed forces. With the threat gone, the pair hop on snowmobiles and escape an avalanche. It obviously all looks very good.

10:53Chris and Claire Redfield are also two of her closest friends since those events in Raccoon City.

10:52It's revealed that Sherry Birkin - who you might remember from Resident Evil 2 - was a unique healing ability thanks to her exposure to her father's BOW work.

10:52Now for a new gameplay demo featuring the new character, Jake, who is joined by Sherry Birkin. There's trapped in a shack in a blizzard.

10:51Other features include the ability to read through the files and story documents you've collected in Resident Evil 6.

10:50Each online event has just a single winner, who will be given a Championship Belt. Only one person can hold the belt, so you have to keep playing to hold onto the title.

10:47Another advantage of the service is that you can see when friends are online, handy for when you want to jump on together for co-op.

10:47There are also global community events, such as kill 100,000 zombies. This will give you points, which can then be spent on exclusive in-game items, such as exclusive Mercenaries costumes.

10:46It'll offer a number of features, including the ability to tweet you if a score is beaten online. Smartphone apps are in the works.

10:45Resident Evil.Net is announced. It's a website that pulls all of your gameplay stats from Resident Evil 6 and compares them with friends.

10:44Ono just made everyone stand up while he took a picture of the audience doing a shoryuken. It'll be on Twitter shortly, apparently. His enthusiasm is infectious.

10:42Ono says he's about to show a video of Street Fighter V. The crowd gasps but it's all a joke, unfortunately!

10:402012 marks the 25th anniversary of the Street Fighter franchise. Music plays and Yoshinori Ono dressed as Blanka comes on stage holding a birthday cake!

10:38DLC can be shared between PS3 and Vita, and the two platforms can play against one another. There are also adhoc fight requests and AR features. It's out in Europe on October 26.

10:38Now up is Street Fighter x Tekken for Vita. It contains much more content than the console versions, with a trailer explaining how. There's 55 fighters all ready to play from the off. A casual mod has you tap for moves and swipe for specials, and use back touch to swap characters.

10:33With the bug dispatched, the base calls in that other mysterious things are a-foot. That's the end of the new demo; Lost Planet 3 is coming to consoles and PC in early 2013.

10:31Jim makes his way to the rig. It's a towering piece of machinery, with the game demonstrating an impressive sense of scope. The demo now shows the difference between the on-foot third-person shooter gameplay and using the rig, which is first person with almost fighting elements, with blocking and swinging attacks to help dispatch a particularly large and nasty bug.

10:29Jim gets the dish prepared, and calls his rig - his mech - to the top of the mountain. Naturally, he's soon joined by some alien visitors.

10:29Joe reaches the relay tower. However, it's been sabotaged by a mysterious figure that quickly runs and jumps from a nearby cliff. After radioing in the discovery - the base says that he must be seeing things since everyone is accounted for - Joe has to continue through the base to manually activate the communications dish to the base can communicate with Earth.

10:25The tone of the game is a lot different than previous instalments; more gritty, music has more of a horror tone. The gameplay looks particularly action-based, however.

10:24Joe has to reach towers at the top of a mountain, and must travel through an alien infested cave to get there, naturally. After blasting his way through a corridor, he runs into a spot of bother with flying insect-like aliens that demonstrate the 'Struggle' mechanic; essentially tapping the A button, but there's also what looks like timed movements of an analogue stick to break free.

10:22The hands-on demo opens with a cutscene that has a real Wild West vibe, from the music to the downbeat woes of these visitors in this desolate land.

10:20Next up is Lost Planet 3. After a trailer, the on-stage presenter explains once more that it's a prequel to the rest of the series. The protagonist, Jim, is a colonist on an icy planet contracted to find minerals, and is sending his wages back to his family back home.

10:17DmC launches January 13th on Xbox 360 and PC, with a PC version coming later.

10:16After a corridor of floating platforms, Dante greets on the boss of the organisation in cyber form, who paints Dante as a terrorist. After a brief boss confrontation with a floating head with glasses, the scene warps to a live broadcast of a helicam at a dock, and the player has to fight demons as a broadcaster commentates on his actions and Dante's terrorist activities. It's really clever.

10:14Part way across, the game cuts to an introduction for the Raptor news network, and Dante appears in a cyberworld created by the organisation. It's very cool.

10:13The demo is less fantastical than previous showings of the game, but it's still a bit weird; Dante is running upside down over a floating bridge hovering high above a city, and is swinging his way to a tower off in the distance.

10:11The trailer ends. It's explained that Vergil is the leader of The Order. Now for a gameplay demo; the demons, who are based in a separate dimension, are bleeding over into the human world in a bid to control it. Dante is attempting to take on the leader of a media empire controlled by the demons.

10:08Dante and Virgil have a tense standoff, with Dante risking the future of mankind for the sake of a girl. The trailer ends with a towering demon that crushes a skyscraper.

10:07Dante chats to a woman who is part of The Order, an organisation who fights demons. He also meets with Virgil, his twin brother that he doesn't remember, and they both convince him to dedicate his life to fighting demons.

10:06First up is DmC. There will be one new character added to the reboot, which will appear prominently in the trailer we're about to see.

10:05Patterson says that this is the publisher's first press conference at gamescom, and that Capcom has the most exciting line-up in its history.

10:05The music dims and a nice young gentleman provides the usual bumph; fire exits, press kits, mobile phones off. With that out of the way, the senior vice president of marketing Michael Patterson takes to the stage.

10:03Hello! We've arrived at the venue in Cologne, and we should be kicking off very shortly.
