Nintendo has confirmed that it is working on a solution to the issue of storage space available on its Wii console after receiving complaints from disgruntled users of the firm's WiiWare service.
Nintendo boss Laurent Fischer refused to say what the solution is, but confirmed that a rumoured hard drive for the Wii is out of the question.
"Definitely there's no plan to issue hardware, an external hard drive, but we know that we have an issue in that area," said Fischer.
"It's very obvious and we're perfectly aware of it, but there's nothing we can say beyond this."
The games chief said the firm is "working on a solution", but added that, for now, users suffering space shortage can "store your Virtual Console games on an SD card, and also we at Nintendo can store the things for you. So if you delete some of the software you have downloaded it's no problem to go again to the download process and get the software back for free."
The Nintendo Wii, which has 512MB of Flash memory for saved games and downloadable content, has been shown to lack ample storage space after users storing WiiWare games have complained of running out of memory.
