Sony: 'Non-game applications on PS3, PSP'
Sony has revealed that third-party developers and publishers plan to launch new non-game applications for the PlayStation 3 and Portable PlayStation.

Company president David Reeves made the announcement following the high-profile DevStation conference.

Discussing the forthcoming video download service, which was developed in partnership with BSkyB, the UK boss told MCV: "You’re going to see more of those partnerships. And those partnerships are an opportunity to the industry."

A PS3 Freeview service allowing users to record, pause and rewind live TV, titled PlayTV, is expected to launch late summer.
