Disney Interactive Studios has announced that it will release a video game inspired by the forthcoming Disney animation Bolt this November.
The movie centres on super-dog Bolt (voiced by John Travolta), a TV star whose fictional character has magical powers. Bolt, who believes his powers are real, is accidentally shipped from LA to New York and must make his way home with the help of a TV-obsessed hamster and a house cat named Mittens. He later discovers, in true Disney style, that he does not need superpowers to be a hero.
In the game for Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, PS3, DS and PC, players take control of Bolt, making use of his superpowers such as laser vision and a superbark, which sends out a sonic blast. Players can also control Bolt's owner Penny, while using stealth, hacking skills and a scooter.
"Bolt uses the film as a springboard, expanding upon the action and dynamic story elements, to provide a fun, challenging experience for gamers," said Craig Relyea, senior vice president of global marketing at Disney Interactive Studios.
"With Bolt, developer Avalanche Software looks to further its reputation as a premier developer of compelling animated games for a broad audience."
