Xbox 360 'rehouses' PlayStation franchises

The head of Microsoft's entertainment business claims that traditional PlayStation franchises have "found a new home" on the Xbox 360 console.

Speaking at the E3 expo in Las Vegas, Don Mattrick pointed to Square Enix's confirmation that Final Fantasy XIII would be released on the next-gen Microsoft console.

Mattrick told the audience that titles associated with the PlayStation are now seen as Xbox 360 games.

Discussing Square Enix's decision to launch Final Fantasy XIII on Xbox 360, Mattrick said: "It’s another astonishing addition to our array of RPG titles.

“It shows that a long list of former PlayStation franchises are now finding a new home on 360. It’s happened with Guitar Hero, it’s happened with Madden and now it’s happening with Resident Evil and Final Fantasy.

“Xbox 360 is now feeding the experience of fierce gaming loyalists whilst walking everyone into interactive entertainment. What do today’s announcements mean for you? With Xbox 360, there is no better way to deliver fun and entertainment to your living room.”
