Wii exclusive 'Dead Rising' announced

Capcom has announced that it is developing a Wii exclusive edition of its bestselling game Dead Rising.

Utilising the Resident Evil 4 engine, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop promises to turn the Wii Remote into a multi-functional weapon as players shoot, slash and bludgeon their way through a zombie-infested shopping mall.

The game, a spinoff based on the one million-selling 2006 Xbox 360 game Dead Rising, follows the tale of Frank West, a freelance journalist looking for a big story. As he makes his way into the town of Willamette, he discovers that it has been overrun by flesh-hungry zombies.

Split into a series of cases, players will need to complete each one in order to solve the mystery of the zombie epidemic.

Capcom claims that the title, which boasts a "huge environment" with "expansive indoor and outdoor" areas of the mall, will offer a "new level of interaction" as players can use weapons such as golf clubs, lawnmowers and frying pans, adding that "anything in the mall is at Frank's disposal".

A UK release date for Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop has yet to be announced.
