Few details of the DS title have yet been revealed, but it will be based on the film, due for release in 2009, starring Brandon Fraser, Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren.
Inkheart is the first instalment in the Inkheart trilogy of books, written by Cornelia Funke.
The series, which has also spawned tabletop games, tells the story of Mortimer Folchart (Branon Fraser). When he reads a book, he has the remarkable ability to make the characters come out of the book and into real life.
While reading the book Inkheart, Mortimer accidentally brings the book's wicked characters to life, while placing his daughter's mother Theresa into the book.
One of the dark characters brought to life is Capricon, who attempts to use the daughter as a way of persuading Mortimer to utilise his talents in a more sinister way.
