Sony considers 'Ghostbusters' revival
Sony Pictures has said it wants to revive a canned Ghostbusters video game to tie in with the original movie's 25th anniversary next year.

The film studio has been in talks with Activision, which pulled the multi-format title as part of its restructuring process, in an attempt to launch the game in 2009.

A Sony Pictures spokesperson is quoted by Variety as saying it is working with Activision Blizzard "to evaluate various options surrounding the release of the Ghostbusters video game".

"This has presented [Sony Pictures] with an opportunity to re-evaluate the game release marketing strategy to potentially coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film in '09."

The Ghostbusters game, developed by Terminal Reality, was originally scheduled for release in autumn 2008 on PS3, PS2, Wii, DS and PC.

The title, located in a ghost-ridden Manhattan, sees players take on the role of a new recruit joining the Ghostbusters team.
