Sony spokesman Nick Caplin told Reuters: "It's not going to happen. If you're coming [to Leipzig] for that you'll be disappointed."
Sony's press conference at the Leipzig Games Convention will take place this Wednesday, one day ahead of the official opening of the event.
Nintendo and Microsoft will not be hosting a press conference this year, leaving the way for Sony to announce "blockbuster" surprises at the show, according to company boss David Reeves.
The Leipzig Games Convention 2008 will run from August 20 to August 22.
