Leipzig: 'Best in show' games announced

In the console categories, EA's Mirror's Edge picked up best Xbox 360 game, while Sony's Little Big Planet walked away with best PS3 game.
On Wii, Electronic Arts' Skate It won, after it garnered praise for good use of Nintendo's Balance Board device.
Other winners included EA's Spore for Best PC Game; Resistance Retribution won best PSP game; Sonic Chronicles won best DS title; Warhammer Online was Best Online Game and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 won best mobile game.
In the best hardware category, Sony's forthcoming PS3 PlayTV service, which will allow users to record, play back and pause TV programmes, was the overall winner.
The Leipzig 2008 show, which ran from August 21 to 24, enjoyed a record attendance of over 203,000 visitors, and organisers have vowed to bring it back next year.
CEO Wolfgang Marzin said: "The GC - Games Convention will be back in Leipzig again in 2009. The industry and visitors are giving us their clear support to continue with the fair.”
