MP demands apology over EA petrol giveaway
The MP for Hornsey and Wood Green has demanded that Electronic Arts apologise to local residents following its abandoned £20k petrol giveaway to promote Mercenaries 2: World In Flames.

EA had planned to give motorists £40 worth of petrol each, but was forced to stop by police after heavy congestion ensued in the surrounding residential area.

At one point more than 40 cars were waiting for free petrol, with local residents unable to get in and out of their drives.

Hornsey and Wood Green MP Lynne Featherstone told The Guardian: "Whilst a lucky few might have got some free petrol, hundreds of local residents have faced misery on their daily journeys this morning. They deserve an apology for being the victims of such an ill-thought out media stunt."

Featherstone also branded the publicity stunt "irresponsible and dangerous".
