Capcom abandoning platform exclusives

Published Sunday, Sep 14 2008, 12:27 BST | By Beth Hilton and Mark Langshaw
Capcom is turning its back on platform exclusives in a bid to increase revenue.

In its recent shareholder report, which appeared on Shacknews, the Resident Evil publisher revealed: "All major titles launched during the next fiscal year or thereafter will be developed as multi-platform games."

It added that an "integrated development environment built to provide common development tools for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms" will be used.

The news will be welcomed by many Nintendo Wii owners, who now have renewed hope that highly-anticipated titles Street Fighter IV, Resident Evil 5 and Bionic Commando will appear on their consoles.
