PS3 update leaks Life software
Published Wednesday, Sep 17 2008, 16:24 BST | By Matthew Reynolds
A minor firmware update for the PlayStation 3 accidentally allows users to download unreleased software.
An optional update available earlier today prepared Japanese consoles for a new video service, but did not impact other regions.
However, several users found that it replaced the Folding@Home software with Life With PlayStation, allowing global weather and news information to be displayed on a planet wide scale, whilst performing Folding@Home in the background.
Sony has since corrected the update and will release the software officially in the near future.
Life With PlayStation was originally scheduled for an August release.
