Valve dismisses Google rumours
US developer Valve has moved to dismiss rumours that it is about to be bought by Google, according to reports.

The Inquirer yesterday quoted "well placed sources" as indicating that the search engine giant was close to purchasing Valve.

Google is thought to be particularly interested in acquiring Steam, which is the Half-Life creator's digital distribution and rights management entity.

However, Valve's marketing director Doug Lombardi told Spong that the story is "100% rumour".

Despite this, he recently admitted to the website that if potential suitors wish to discuss an acquisition, the firm is "happy to have that conversation".
