Downtime for the Xbox 360 Live service will occur early next week, it has been announced.
From 8.01am next Monday, Microsoft's Live services will be unavailable for a scheduled 24 hours, including Xbox servers and online forums.
According to Microsoft's Major Nelson blog, "this service maintenance is in preparation for the new Xbox experience". However, this is not the Xbox dashboard update, which will be released before the end of the year.
The updated dashboard features a new navigation system, avatars and the ability to rip games onto the hard drive to reduce loading times.
