The innovative first-person shooter will now hit European retail outlets on October 17, with a North American release to follow on October 21.
Bioshock is set in the unique underwater art deco city of Rapture where a utopian dream has gone badly wrong.
PS3 owners will gain a survivor difficulty mode that was not present in the PC or Xbox 360 versions released last year, according to Edge.
Trophy support and more downloadable content will also reportedly become available following the launch.
Players can get an early taste of the game when a demo becomes available on Thursday for download on the PlayStation network.
