Nintendo unveiled the third incarnation of the DS, the DSi, at a press conference in Japan today.
The DSi will launch in Japan on November 1, at a cost of 18,900 Yen (£100). The European version will launch next year, with the price yet to be confirmed.
With no GBA cartridge slot the DSi will be 12% thinner, at 2.6mm, but will feature two slightly larger 3.25 inch touch screens.
The DSi will feature two cameras, one will rest in-between the game screens, while the second will sit on the console's exterior. The cameras come with a built-in photo channel, similar to that on the Wii.
As well as continuing to offer wi-fi gaming, the DSi will also come with a built-in web browser. The browser will grant direct access to the DSi shop, where additional programmes and games can be purchased.
The speaker quality has also been improved and an SD card slot added for increased storage capabilities and for transferring items between the DSi and the Wii.
