Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two is to remain an independent company after Electronic Arts (EA) pulled out of buyout talks in mid-September.
Following detailed discussions with a number of potential buyers, Take-Two's board of directors concluded that it is in the company’s best interests to remain independent.
"We are strongly positioned creatively, financially and competitively to benefit from the opportunities we see in the fastest growing segment of the entertainment industry,” said chairman Strauss Zelnick.
Take-Two’s stock price plummeted by almost 28% in a single day after the withdrawal of EA’s takeover bid.
