Codemasters has pulled the plug on its massively-multiplayer-online role-playing game (MMORPG) RF Online in Europe and North America.

The UK publisher shut down its servers after contract negotiations with the game's Korean developer CCR broke down.

"Our licence for RF Online is due to expire shortly and unfortunately, despite several weeks of negotiations with CCR, the Korean developers of the title, we have not been able to reach an agreement to renew the contract," read a company statement.

"This means that Codemasters will no longer have the right to operate the service in the Western territories it currently provides service in and therefore we are obliged to shut down all associated game services before the licence expires."

The game will be in operation until November 9, but new accounts can no longer be opened and the company is no longer selling in-game credits.

RF Online was Codemasters first MMORPG title and has been running since 2005.
