Retailer HMV has acquired Gamerbase and plans to open more centres nationwide.
The multiplayer gaming centre first opened in HMV's London Trocadero store last year, featuring over 80 computers and hosting regional tournaments.
HMV plans to open a centre in Manchester by Christmas, with many more situated within stores around the country.
Head of games Tim Ellis told MCV: "We've been developing our games offer in a number of ways, and we see in-store gaming as an important strand in our overall strategy."
Gamerbase has given away over £300,000 in tournament winnings to date.
