11% of gamers own unopened titles, according to a new poll.
Research commissioned by the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) revealed the habits of game owners, reports Gamasutra.
Asked what they do with their packaging, 88% said they keep discs in their cases, 8% place them in sleeves and keep the casing, and 5% bin the cases.
11% of gamers also own titles which were left unopened after purchase and backlogged for future playing.
EMA president Bo Andersen explained why cases are kept, saying: "The cases provide product protection, allow easy title identification, and carry the artwork that is integral to the consumer's association with the title."
