Published Saturday, Nov 1 2008, 19:44 GMT | By Mark Langshaw

The title will be developed by Harmonix, the MTV-owned company behind Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and distributed by Electronic Arts. Platforms are yet to be announced, but the release date is expected to be during the 2009 holiday season.
Harmonix co-founder Alex Rigopoulos refuted previous reports that the game would be a Rock Band title. "Let me make this clear. This game is not just a Rock Band expansion pack," he said. "It's a full, new music game built from the ground up."
Rigopoulos added that the game would support Rock Band instruments as well as "instruments from other games".
