Sony has said it is "pleased" with the average sales of LittleBigPlanet, even though it dropped down sales charts shortly after release.
After debuting at fourth in its opening week, the PlayStation 3 exclusive has since dropped to 19 in the all-platforms chart.
However, Sony is satisfied with its current performance and optimistic about the future.
Talking to Eurogamer, a spokesperson for the company said: "We're really pleased with the initial reaction to LittleBigPlanet… we are also pleased with its commercial performance. In other times of the year [LittleBigPlanet] would be a clear number one, so you have to put the chart in context. This is an incredibly volatile time of year and the chart reflects that."
The company added that it's their highest ever ranking title on aggregate scoring website Metacritic, and has a heavy advertising schedule before Christmas that could shift more copies and systems.
LittleBigPlanet has recently come under fire for moderating community levels without notice.
