Trophies become mandatory for PS3 games

All titles submitted for approval from January 1, 2009 must include trophies, the PlayStation 3 equivalent of Xbox 360 achievements, according to VideoGamer.
Introduced earlier this year, only a handful of games including LittleBigPlanet and Wipeout HD feature trophies, although several developers have retroactively added them to previous releases.
The feature is assumed to be mandatory for both retail and PSN releases.
