In an electronic newsletter supposedly from Tiesto, he revealed that he is composing music especially for the unannounced title, to be released in summer 2009.
"I am very excited about this! I think this is a great way to introduce people into Djing. Maybe they realise it's not as easy as they think," he said.
He added that his DJ Hero title will help bring new fans to the dance scene, saying: "Dance music is not far from hip-hop, for example. Hopefully the music I have composed appeals to all kinds of fans."
The Tiesto edition is expected to come as a standalone disc similar to the Aerosmith and Metallica Guitar Hero titles.
Activision has yet to confirm DJ Hero, despite trademarking the name.
