Charles Cecil, the mastermind behind point-and-click adventures like Lure Of The Temptress and Beneath A Steel Sky, said he was inspired by an online petition to move ahead with the project.
"Watch this space. There will be an official announcement. Not there may be, there will be an official announcement," he told VideoGamer.
"I'm really sorry to be so vague about it but that's just the way it is."
Rumours that Revolution Games has been working on a director's cut of the original Broken Sword have circulated for some time, but there is no evidence to suggest that this will be the version to appear on the DS.
