Capcom nearly axed 'Street Fighter HD'

The developer was "worried" that early artwork, created by Udon, was not up to Capcom's standards.
In an interview with VideoGamer, lead designer David Sirlin said: "Without going into the nitty-gritty of it, the art they were producing just wasn't up to par or schedule of what we needed.
"To be honest, a lot of their art was looking pretty good, but just not 'good enough'. It just wouldn't satisfy the quality bar that both Capcom and Street Fighter fans demand.
"Once Udon and Capcom agreed to go with that route, we had to essentially reboot the whole art pipeline. The character art pretty much started over from scratch with new reference art from Udon."
When asked whether the game was close to cancellation, he said: "Yeah that was a possibility. It was unspoken but everyone just knew it that if that art wasn't going to work out then maybe they were going to cancel the whole thing… we were worried and Udon was worried too."
The remake, featuring 1080p high-definition visuals, can be downloaded on Xbox Live for 1600 Microsoft Points. Details of the European PS3 release are not yet available.
