'Guitar Hero' November's top music game

Schachter provided a rundown of US sales figures for Guitar Hero and its rival Rock Band games. Activision's top seller shifted 1.7 million units in November, while Rock Band managed 628,452 sales.
Both franchises, however, saw a downturn in sales compared to their predecessors the previous year. The games' combined haul showed a 12% decrease from that of November 2007.
Schachter believes the decrease in sales is a sign that the rhythm genre is saturated and may be past its peak. "With Activision and others sure to bring new innovation to the genre next year we can't count it out, but it almost certainly won't be the growth driver it has been over the past two years," he said.
