Sony has denied reports that it is working on a successor to the PlayStation Portable.
The firm previously remained tight-lipped over rumours that a next-generation version of its handheld platform is in the works. However, the president of its European division has now put an end to the speculation, revealing that Sony plans to continue investing in the recently launched PSP-3000.
"There are currently no plans for a PSP2," David Reeves told MCV. "I go to Tokyo quite a lot and no one has referred to it - I think they have their hands full at the moment."
Reeves also acknowledged the PSP's weakness as a lack of third-party support, with developers opting to take their games elsewhere first.
He promised to address the issue, claiming that more PSP games are on the way, "they just take a while longer".
