The free patch became available yesterday, with users prompted to download it upon starting the PS3 version, reports ThreeSpeech.
After restarting the console, gamers will be able to use PS2 discs from the karaoke series on the next-generation platform.
Sony reportedly hopes that the move will encourage more PS2 owners to upgrade to the PS3 as the vast majority of the 70 SingStar titles released are on the previous generation console.
