Details on 'Splatterhouse' remake revealed

Namco Bandai and developer BottleRocket revealed details on the upcoming Splatterhouse remake in an interview with 1UP.

The game will remain as true as possible to the source material. Rick - the game's protagonist - will wield the same weapons that made the originals infamous, such as the 2-by-4 and the meat cleaver. His arsenal has also been expanded to include multiple weapon classes and "a few surprises".

Namco stated that the remake aims to recapture the original's 1980s horror film vibe, while BottleRocket confirmed there would be no shortage of gore, promising gamers "a very messy good time".

Splatterhouse will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 some time next year.
