'TimeSplitters' developer shuts down

'Haze'

British developer Free Radical Design has become another victim of the credit crunch.

Employees at the independent studio, based in Nottingham, arrived at work to find the building closed and instructions to meet at a nearby hotel, according to Eurogamer.

Senior executives have already left the company and work on Star Wars Battlefront III has moved to developer Rebellion.

Director Steve Eillis denied any problems last month, saying that the firm was planning to sign new projects, claims GamesIndustry.biz.

Free Radical Design, formed from ex-Rare employees in 1999, is best known for its work on the TimeSplitters series. It released PS3 shooter Haze earlier this year.
