Oxford-based studio Rebellion has taken on the development of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 after the closure of Free Radical Design.

The game's fate was unknown after the previous developer closed its doors last week, but Rebellion - the studio behind Call Of Duty: World At War - has now picked up the title, claims VideoGamer.

Battlefront 3 will be the first entry in the series since 2005's Battlefront 2, which appeared on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PC and Xbox.
