Sony: PS3 sales increased by 130%
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced that sales of its PlayStation 3 console increased by 130% over the Christmas period.

In statement issued to CNET, SCEA vice president Ian Jackson said that the company had a "solid holiday season" which built on "consistent growth" throughout 2008.

"Early internal data points to an increase of more than 130% of PS3 hardware sales for the holiday season - since Black Friday - and we're also seeing a growth of nearly 40% in total PS3 hardware sales for the calendar year," Jackson said. "We remain confident this momentum will continue into the New Year."

Sony is predicting big things from the 2009 release schedule, which includes squad game Killzone 2, sandbox title inFamous, 256 player online shooter MAG, psychological thriller Heavy Rain and EyePet.
