Starting on the PlayStation 2 in 2001, it become a critical success and sold over two million copies worldwide.
After two PS2 sequels and last year's chart-topping Devil May Cry 4 on PS3 and 360, the series has now broken the ten million shipped barrier, according to MCV.
The franchise has also seen comics, figurines and an anime in Japan.
However, Devil May Cry is far from Capcom's most successful series, with Street Fighter, Mega Man and Resident Evil all selling over 25 million copies each.
