Details have emerged for the upcoming film tie-in Terminator Salvation: The Video Game.
According to preview footage, the game will take place several years before the upcoming film. Set in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles during Skynet's rise to power, players will take control of Barnes, a resistance soldier and right-hand man to series hero John Connor.
Gameplay mechanics are of the third-person shooter variety, with a cover and flank battle system and a cinematic interface. The footage also featured Brad Fiedel's legendary score, which first appeared in the original Terminator film in 1984.
Several actors from Salvation - including Common and Moon Bloodgood - will provide voices for their in-game characters, but Christian Bale declined to voice John Connor, despite portraying him in the film.
Terminator Salvation: The Video Game is released May 21, with its big screen counterpart following on June 3.
