The 39-year-old actor told a US talkshow that lengthy sessions playing the game led to him suffering tendonitis in his hand, which had to be treated with steroid injections in hospital.
He explained: "I play a lot of video games; I play a lot of Xbox 360. I played Fallout 3 so often I had to go get injections in my hand."
The incident mirrors an episode of Friends when Perry's character Chandler Bing suffered a hand injury while trying to beat a high score on the Ms Pac Man arcade game.
Perry also said in the interview that any potential future girlfriend of his would "have to be a video game player".
