The British publisher has been awarded the licence to produce F1 games for the 2009 and 2010 seasons, including current world champion Lewis Hamilton making his video game debut.
F1 2009 will be released this year for the Wii and PSP, while F1 2010 will be launched next year for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
The titles will be powered by the firm's EGO Engine, which also underpinned the BAFTA Award-winning GRID.
Codemasters chief executive Rod Cousens described F1 as the "pinnacle of motorsport" and said that the firm is trying to produce games to match its "passion, glamour and exhilaration".
He continued: "Our studios are working extremely closely with Formula One Management Limited and the teams to produce the most authentic and thrilling experience possible.
"We are delighted with the level of support and access afforded to us so far, enabling us to get as close to the sport as possible."
F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone said that Codemasters has a "great heritage" and revealed that he has been "impressed" with the work done so far.
