The at1Up podcast hosted at 1Up.com provided details of the next model, which was edited from the show hours later.
Titled 'PSP Go!', it will have control buttons that slide out from underneath the machine, include a second analog stick and house a larger screen.
The device, which will launch at the end of the year, will also swap the ill-fated UMD drive for internal memory, where games will be provided online.
Rumours of a new PSP model have been around for some time.
