The latest chapter in the popular franchise has now gone gold for PC and Mac, arriving on retailers' shelves and digital distribution sites on June 2.
The game will retail at $49.99 (£33), but a collectors edition will also be available for $69.99 (£46). The deluxe edition comes bundled with a 2GB The Sims Plumbob USB drive, a strategy guide and an in-game European sports car.
The Sims 3 will offer players more character customisation options than previous entries in the series, with more appearance settings to choose from and five different personality traits to select.
New goal-orientated gameplay will also be featured, with players able to choose which long-term and short-term goals they want their sims to complete at any time.
A brand new online community will provide players with free bonus content, news and tips, as well as play host to user-made sim movies.
The Sims 3 is released for PC and Mac on June 2.
