According to CVG, the firm's Steve Ballmer told a crowd in Dallas to "pay attention to the stuff we're announcing in the next month on Xbox".
With E3 taking place at the beginning of June, it is thought that Microsoft will announce a new motion sensor for the Xbox 360.
Ballmer's comments follow the news that Microsoft is planning to buy online gaming studio BigPark, with whom it has been working on a new title to be unveiled at E3.
"We believe BigPark has tremendous potential to create new properties and innovative gaming experiences for our platforms, one of which we're looking forward to showcasing at the E3 Expo in June," said Microsoft Gaming head Phil Spencer.
This year's E3 event takes place from June 2-4 at the LA Convention Centre.
