Research group Intellisurvey recently questioned gamers on whether they would prefer a subscription-based game or a free model with buyable add-ons, such as in-game currency and expansion packs.
It has long been speculated that developer Turbine has been working on an MMO for the Xbox 360, but the firm refused to confirm or deny the LOTRO reports. Publisher Warner Interactive also declined to comment.
Lord Of The Rings Online was released for the PC in 2007. An expansion pack, The Mines Of Moria, was added in November last year.
